OIC-COMSTECH Partners With Huawei Technologies to Launch ICT Academy in Islamabad

Islamabad (TDI): OIC-COMSTECH and Huawei Technologies have officially signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the joint COMSTECH-Huawei ICT Academy, marking a major step toward strengthening digital capacity and youth empowerment across the 57 OIC member and 5 observer states.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat, where the COMSTECH-Huawei ICT Academy was also formally inaugurated.

Speaking at the event, Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun said the initiative reflects the company’s long-term commitment to equipping young people with the digital skills needed to succeed in the global economy.

Leadership of Huawei Technologies reaffirmed their strong commitment to nurturing digital talent through initiatives such as the “Seeds for the Future” program, emphasizing that the ICT Academy  will serve as a vital platform for promoting inclusive digital transformation, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities, and advancing sustainable technological growth across the OIC countries.

The newly opened facility is equipped with advanced digital learning infrastructure, enabling virtual instruction, hands-on ICT training, and real-time collaboration for students and professionals across the OIC region.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman as the Chief Guest. He commended the initiative as a timely and strategic investment in the region’s digital future, emphasizing its importance for strengthening Pakistan’s ICT ecosystem and supporting broader capacity-building efforts across OIC member states.

Speaking on occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, highlighted that the MoU represents a transformative step toward achieving digital self-reliance across the OIC region. He noted that by leveraging the global expertise and technological leadership of Huawei Technologies, the initiative will enable the youth of member states to acquire cutting-edge skills and

actively contribute to innovation-driven socio-economic development.

The academy will serve as a central hub for blended learning, providing access to Huawei’s global training ecosystem and supporting the delivery of high-quality courses in emerging technologies. This initiative strengthens OIC- COMSTECH’s mission to expand digital education, promote scientific advancement, and accelerate technology adoption across developing member states.

Under the partnership, the OIC-COMSTECH-Huawei ICT Academy will offer specialized certifications in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity, helping bridge the global talent gap and equipping young professionals with industry-ready skills.

The event concluded with a tour of the newly inaugurated Academy, where participants observed live demonstrations of Huawei’s digital learning technologies and future-ready training modules. Ambassadors and senior diplomats from Somalia, Malaysia, Morocco, Mauritius, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Brunei Darussalam along with representatives of various international and national organizations attended the ceremony.
