Moscow, 14 September 2023 (TDI): The President of North Korea, Kim Jong-un on his visit to Russia held a meeting with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin on September 13, at the Vostochny Space Launch Centre.
The North Korean President, was received by the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, Alexandr Kozlov, and other Russian leading officials at the Vostochny Spaceport and was led to the venue for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President during the meeting recognized the continuation of 75 years of diplomatic relations with North Korea and mentioned Russia’s support to North Korea in achieving its independence in 1948.
In recognition of the strong ties between the two countries, the Russian President called it indispensable to hold talks with North Korea about their economic cooperation, humanitarian issues, and the situation in the region.
The President of North Korea on his part appreciated Russia’s effort towards building itself a space power.
In recognition of the deep roots of cooperation between the two countries, the North Korean President called their relations with the Russian Federation their top priority.
President Kim Jong-un mentioned, “Russia is currently engaged in a sacred battle to defend its state sovereignty and security in the face of the hegemonic forces that oppose Russia.”
In correspondence, he stated, “We are willing to continue to develop our relations. We have always supported and will continue to support every decision made by President Putin, as well as the decisions of the Russian Government.”
Both sides during the meeting also held in-depth discussions on the successes and experience of constructive cooperation gained in all fields of politics, the economy, the military and culture between the two countries.
Also, both sides discussed holding immediate cooperation in the course of defending the sovereignty and developmental interests of both countries.
Both sides also discussed securing peace and security in the region and extending cooperation to fight against imperialists’ military threats and provocation.
Both sides after holding negotiations reached satisfactory agreements and a consensus of views.
President Kim Jong-un at the reception hosted by the Russian side, invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay a visit to North Korea which President Putin accepted with pleasure.

Visiting the Vostochny Cosmodrome
Before holding the high-level meeting with President Putin, the North Korean President toured the Vostochny Cosmodrome Spaceport, where he was received by the Russian President.
During his tour of the spaceport, President Kim Jong-un visited the carrier rocket assembly and test complex, together with President Putin.
President Kim Jong-un was briefed on the detailed technical features of Soyuz-2, Angara, and other types of carrier rockets and their assembling and launching processes.
He also looked around the Soyuz-2 carrier rocket launching complex and the Angara carrier rocket launching complex that is under construction.
After touring the Spaceport, President Kim Jong-un appreciated the successes of Vostochny Spaceport under the strategic space development plan of President Putin.
