Tashkent, 3 November 2023 (TDI): The governments of Uzbekistan and France signed eight bilateral documents on November 2, in Samarkand on various areas of cooperation to vitalize the mutual strategic partnership.

Extensive talks were held between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron in an expanded format with the participation of the official delegations of the two countries on November 2, in Samarkand.

During the extended meeting, the current state of bilateral cooperation and the prospects of deepening interstate relations in various fields were assessed.

Besides that, both sides expressed their future intentions to deepen cooperation within the framework of international organizations and to jointly solve various global and regional problems.

Signing of bilateral documents

At the end of the negotiations held in Samarkand, the President of Uzbekistan, and the President of France adopted a joint statement, where the documents to be adopted by two countries were explicated.

The intention of the two countries to raise the mutual relations to the level of strategic partnership was notified in the joint statement.

The eight bilateral documents were signed by the delegations in the fields of finance, education, culture, and other areas of bilateral cooperation in the presence of the Presidents.

At number one, the intergovernmental agreement was signed on the establishment of the “Samarkand French Alliance” and its activities.

At number two, the intergovernmental financial statements on improving drinking water supply infrastructure in Uzbekistan were signed.

At number three, the declaration on amendments and additions to the intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of the French Development Agency and “PROPARKO” and their activities in Uzbekistan was signed.

At number four, the declaration on cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs in the field of training of diplomatic personnel was signed.

At number five, the statement on cooperation in the field of preschool, school, professional, and higher education was signed.

At number six, the declaration on cooperation in the field of cultural heritage was signed.

At number seven, the agreement on educational cooperation in professional and technical fields was signed.

At number eight, within the framework of the visit, declarations on cooperation between the Fund for the Development of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and the French companies “SUEZ” and “Bouygues” were signed.
