Islamabad (TDI): Life in Islamabad returned to normal on Wednesday after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers called off their protest march in the Blue Area of the city.
Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Irfan Memon, directed assistant commissioners to ensure the immediate reopening of all closed routes across the city.
He also ordered cleaning arrangements along major roads and thoroughfares.
Motorway authorities confirmed that all motorways, including the Islamabad-Lahore (M-2) and Lahore-Sialkot (M-3), have been reopened after four days of closure.
Other motorways such as M-4 and M-5 have also resumed operations, improving regional connectivity and easing travel for daily commuters and long-distance passengers.
Late on Tuesday, law enforcement agencies, including Rangers, Islamabad Police, and Punjab Police, began a crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protesters at key locations, including China Chowk and Jinnah Avenue.

The operation led to the clearance of Tehreek-e-Insaf demonstrators from D-Chowk, Jinnah Avenue, and China Chowk.
Following the law enforcement’s intervention, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf decided to call off its protest, citing concerns over the government’s use of force.
PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the decision was made in light of the government’s brutality and plans to turn the capital into a “killing field for unarmed citizens.”
Rana Sanaullah, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, revealed that around 550 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers were arrested during the crackdown.
