Islamabad (TDI): Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said on Wednesday that the formation of a cyclone in the Arabian Sea is unlikely anytime soon.
Yesterday, an alert was notified by National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) warning about the formation of a low pressure system in the Arabian Sea which it said may transform into a tropical cyclone.
However, speaking on Geo News, Sarfraz clarified that the chances of cyclone affecting Pakistan is dim.

He said that no evolution of low pressure right now is witnessed and the cyclone is formed at its fifth stage.
In view of the current weather conditions, it is unlikely that it will become a cyclone and even if it does, then it is likely to move towards Oman by 70% to 80%.
Low air pressure may develop in the southeast of the Arabian Sea, close to India’s southern coast, by October 9 or 10,he said.

Sarfaraz added that it is too early to say if the cyclone will hit Pakistan’s coastline adding that cyclones are formed in the post-monsoon seasons. He was predicating weather condition in the next seven days.
He also added that the temperature in Karachi is likely to remain the same till next week.
