New Zealand-UK make history over Free Trade Agreement

Wellington, 21 October 2021 (TDI): New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern announced her country’s decision to offer a Free Trade Agreement to the United Kingdom.

She said that New Zealand will further extend cooperation in the post Covid-19 economic recovery. The Minister for Trade and Export Growth of New Zealand, Damien O’Connor, accompanied Prime Minister Ardern during the announcement. The announcement came after she spoke with the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

After the deal, New Zealand became second country to reach a Free Trade Agreement with UK in the wake of Brexit. This deal will be facilitating the exporters to reach the British Market along with cutting substantial costs.

Boris Johnson called the deal a ‘Cherry on Top’ of long and enduring relationship between the two friendly countries. He said that this deal will help the economies of both the states, in the wake of Covid-19. He sees the agreement to boost jobs in both countries.

Earlier New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Export Growth, also called the deal a great opportunity for business people of New Zealand. He said that the deal will remove 100% Tariff. Damien O’Connor has joined Jacinda Ardern through video link while she announced the Trade Deal.
