Washington (TDI): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he has nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, presenting the US president with a letter he sent to the prize committee.
The move comes as Israel continues its massive operations in Gaza, which have so far killed 57,523 Palestinians. Last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC), supported by the United Nations, issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and deliberately cutting off essential supplies to Gaza’s civilian population.
Despite the controversy, Netanyahu praised Trump, saying, “He is making peace happen, country by country, region by region.”

Trump, who has previously expressed frustration over not receiving the Nobel, has often pointed to his diplomatic efforts in regions such as South Asia and the Balkans. He has argued that his mediation between Pakistan and India in a recent military standoff saved South Asia from a potential nuclear war.
Pakistan has also presented his name for the prestigious prize. However, that decision drew backlash from within the country. Lawmakers from opposition parties, civil society figures, and former diplomats condemned the move, especially after the US conducted airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities as part of a joint operation with Israel. In response, JUI-F senators introduced a resolution in the upper house of Parliament to reverse the nomination.

Trump has also taken credit for helping to maintain peace between Egypt and Ethiopia during a tense period, and for initiating the Abraham Accords, which established diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab countries.
Trump has cast himself once again as a leader capable of brokering global peace, though his promises to quickly resolve the wars in Ukraine and Gaza remain unfulfilled well into his current term.
