Nepal Envoy Promotes Holistic Wellness at Islamabad Event

Islamabad (TDI): Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan Rita Dhital has urged individuals to adopt a holistic approach to health, emphasizing the importance of overall well-being during an event marking the first International Wellness Day in the capital.

The Embassy of Nepal, in collaboration with Maroof International Hospital, organised a joint event that brought together diplomats, healthcare professionals, wellness experts, and students to promote a comprehensive understanding of health.

Addressing participants, Ambassador Dhital highlighted that International Wellness Day, observed on April 15, was initiated by Nepal and later recognised by the United Nations. She encouraged people to embrace lifestyles that support physical, mental, emotional, social, and environmental well-being.

The event followed a United Nations General Assembly resolution declaring the day as a global observance, underscoring wellness as a key component of sustainable development.

In a message shared at the event, Nepal’s foreign minister emphasised the significance of wellness in achieving long-term development goals and acknowledged Nepal’s role in advancing the initiative internationally.

Chief Executive Officer of Maroof International Hospital, Haroon Naseer, appreciated the embassy’s efforts and stressed the need to shift towards preventive and lifestyle-based healthcare. He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to promoting community-focused and integrated wellness practices.

Medical experts from the hospital conducted interactive sessions during the programme. Dr Rubia Usman led a wellness and yoga demonstration, while Zubia Zubair spoke on mental health awareness and resilience. Dr Sarah Kiran highlighted the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices.

The event also saw active participation from students and young professionals, reflecting growing awareness among youth about long-term health and well-being.

The programme concluded with a symbolic wellness walk at the E-7 cycling trail, reinforcing the message that maintaining health requires consistent daily effort.

The joint initiative highlighted growing cooperation between diplomatic missions and healthcare institutions in promoting holistic well-being and public health awareness.
