Tashkent, 8 March 2023 (TDI): Tashkent hosted the first meeting of special representatives from Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries. The meeting began on 7th March in Tashkent.
Ismatulla Irgashev, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, opened the meeting.
Delegations from Iran, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan met to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.
This included humanitarian issues, as well as issues of interaction between parties to resolve the situation and establish long-term peace and stability in the country.

Participants will also discuss the location and timing of the second meeting of special representatives from Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries, as well as the timing of the fourth meeting of Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries’ foreign ministers in Tashkent.
