Rabat, 14 December 2021 (TDI): Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita meets with Chadian Foreign Minister Mahamat Zene Cherif. The meeting between both Ministers was held in Morocco.
Chad’s Foreign Minister visits came as part of the continuous dialogue between the President of the Chadian Transitional Military Council Mahamat Idriss Deby, and King Mohammed VI of Morocco. Likewise, it reflects the cooperation based on solidarity and coordination between Chad and Morocco.

Moreover, Chad Foreign Minister holds a meeting with Morocco Foreign Minister. Both officials praised solid bilateral relations between the two countries during the session. They also discussed the bilateral issues between the two countries.
Likewise, during the meeting, both officials decided on the meeting of the Mixed Commission in March 2022. The meeting will provide an opportunity to the two countries’ economic players to convince Morocco’s private sector to invest in the tourism, mining, and agriculture sectors in Chad.

After the meeting, both officials spoke a the Joint Press conference.
During the press conference, Minister Bourtia pointed out that the visit allowed to discuss issues in the Sahel and the African region. He also talked about the operationalization of Community of Sahel–Saharan States (CEN-SAD) institutions, which contribute to the development and stability of the member countries.
Moreover, Chad Foreign Minister pointed out that both countries agreed to enhance their cooperation within the African Union and United Nations framework. Consultation between both countries is important to tackle climate change and counter-terrorism.
Chad Minister also showed support to Morocco’s candidacy in the African Union Peace and Security Council for 2022-2025. Besides, Chad officials reiterated Chad’s support to Morocco over the Western Sahara issue.
Furthermore, both sides signed various bilateral agreements; these include a framework for cooperation in logistics services. They also signed agreements related to the international road transport of passengers, goods, and transit. Both also signed a memorandum of understanding related to providing scholarships and training opportunities in Morocco.
