Message by H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid on United Nations Day 2026

A special message by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, on United Nations Day.

Today, as we celebrate United Nations Day, we cannot ignore the difficult times the world is going through. The system of collective security is facing serious challenges, multilateralism is increasingly questioned, and the principles of international law are being put to the test.

Yet, perhaps the United Nations has never been needed more than today.

Despite all the challenges, the UN remains, for so many countries and peoples, a ray of hope. A forum where dialogue remains possible, even when countries hold different positions, where every nation has a voice, and where cooperation can prevail over disagreements.

For countries that continue to believe in multilateralism, dialogue and international cooperation, the UN remains essential. The challenges we share can only be addressed through collective efforts.

And perhaps this is what we should celebrate today: our shared hope that, despite our different perspectives and interests, we can still work together towards a more peaceful, just and humane world.

A hope worth preserving, and above all, worth believing in.
