Chişinău, 28 August 2023 (TDI): On August 27, 2023, the whole nation of Moldova in commemoration of its independence in 1991, gathered to celebrate its 32nd Independence Day with utmost spirit.
On the 32nd Independence Day, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu shared a video message for the whole nation calling the people of Moldova the reflection of pride before the eyes of the country.
The Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean in congratulating on the Independence Day stated that Moldova has come a long way since declaring independence and called it to be a journey towards sovereignty, full of courage and unity.
He called the journey to be achievable by the people of Moldova as well in which every citizen plays a cardinal role in shaping a developed and strengthened country.
He voiced that the potential of Moldova is limitless and the government is committed to shaping a better future for its people.
Besides that, the Foreign Minister of Moldova, Nicu Popescu also proclaimed the celebratory statement by calling this occasion of not just celebrating their country, but also their goal to live in peace and harmony in the European family.
He added to look forward with confidence, unity and the common desire to build a future in which Moldovan citizens can enjoy all the benefits offered by European integration.
The festivities of Independence Day kicked off with a flower-laying ceremony at the Mother of Sorrows monument at the Eternity Memorial Complex in Chișinău.
The ceremony was led by the President, Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu and Prime Minister, Dorin Recean.
The main events of the day took place in Chișinău’s Great National Assembly Square.
A concert featuring the Moldovan military bands was also performed in Chișinău.
The exhibitions regarding Moldovan culture and history, a children’s art workshop, and a performance by the National Ballet Joc were also intended to take place.

Also as per the program for Independence Day issued by the Moldovan government, the day was wrapped by the performance of the National Moldovan Folk Orchestra, Lăutarii, at the Great National Assembly Square.
Globally, many countries wished the government and people of Moldova on their 32nd Independence Day including Latvia, Portugal, Poland, Estonia, Georgia, Finland, Romania, Azerbaijan, Greece, Bahrain, Sri Lanka and many more.
The countries besides congratulating wished for the prosperity of the Moldovan nation and expressed their intent to further strengthen their cooperation with Moldova.
