Ministerial meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council and the US

New York, 24 September 2021 (TDI): The representative of Oman attended the joint consultative ministerial meeting of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the United States. The meeting was held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly at its 76th session. The permanent representative of Oman to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al-Hassan, represented his country.

The Secretary of State of the United States of America, Antony Blinken was representing his country. He acknowledged the positive assistance of Oman in the peaceful settlement of the Yemen crisis. Ambassador Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al Hassan, reciprocated by assuring his country’s continued help for the restoration of peace and stability in Yemen.

Furthermore, regional as well as international security issues were also discussed. Aside from that, the significance of the US-Gulf strategic partnership and the need to deepen it was also highlighted. The partnership embodies joint collaboration for common interests and coordination of positions.
