Pretoria, 10 September 2021 (TDI): The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Naledi Pandor, hosted the DIRCO women’s breakfast today for Female heads of Mission (HoM’s) accredited to South Africa and expressed her views about gender equality in every field.
Addressing the women diplomats, she mentioned that the time has come to assume leadership and put the world in a better place. It is important to build a foundation of leadership that will help in transforming the world. She also brought attention to the reality that gender equality is still a discussion in the 21st century and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that women still don’t feel empowered. However, she stated women must work together to advance the gender agenda because it’s high time for women to lead. The discussions were mainly on gender equality where initiatives are aimed to create a platform for women diplomats and High Commissioners to share their point of view and perspective, especially on the gender agenda. At the same time, it was discussed that women must explore the available opportunities to them.
All of these efforts are done to promote the empowerment of women and young girls with dreams in Africa.
