Madrid (TDI): José Manuel Albares, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, will meet with representatives from over 40 countries on Monday.
The main aim for calling Mediterranean Ministers in Barcelona is to address the Middle East Crisis Resolution.
These representatives will also include some officials from institutions involved in the Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
Additionally, minister Albares is convening a meeting co-chaired by Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Ayman Safadi.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan will attend the meeting.
The UfM Secretary General Nasser Kamel will also attend the meeting, concentrating on the most critical regional issues.
However, particular interest will be in the state of affairs in the Middle East and the UfM’s role in promoting conflict resolution through Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
Furthermore, Palestine participates for the first time as a state formally recognized by Spain, and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, is invited to represent the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee.
During the forum, Minister Albares will also have the opportunity to meet with his regional counterparts on several bilateral levels.

Additionally, Albares met with Nasser Kamel at the end of June to finalize preparations for this ninth regional forum. The gathering discussed the UfM’s expanding presence in high-level political forums.
During the meeting, Albares also discussed UfM’s expanding presence, including the High-Level Conference on Gaza and the UN Security Council.
The Foreign Affairs Minister also used the meeting to reiterate Spain’s strong commitment to the organization in terms of the contributions to ensure its regular operation.
Lastly, the for Forum’s is also intended to address organizational change that started in 2023, sixteen years after its founding in Paris in July 2008.
