Martin Griffith’s (USG/ERC) 7-day visit to Syria

Damascus, 1 September (TDI): On September 1st, Martin Griffiths Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (USG/ERC), concluded his trip to Syria.

Mr. Griffiths on his tour visited Damascus and Aleppo. On Mr. Martin’s 7 days visit to Syria, He pays a visit to numerous projects in Aleppo. These projects were funded by the Syria Humanitarian Fund. The Official, in his series of statements, talks about the hardship of the people of Syria. Access to school, availability of health care, water, electricity, were some of the basic needs of children and women, wrote the Under-Secretary-General.

Mr. Griffiths on his visit met many locals including children & women. Upon meeting them the Under-Secretary-General learned about their needs and requirements. Mr. Griffiths on his Official Twitter account shared the personal stories of Syrians he encountered. Under-Secretary-General General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Concluded his visit by showing optimism regarding the results. Mr. Griffiths also expressed his concern regarding the lessening funds and the growing need of the Syrian People.

Griffiths Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator requested the donors to keep Syria on their priority lists. Providing Syria with Humanitarian Aid and security, He mentioned are the urgencies they will focus on. Mr. Griffiths further wrote upon his return that now he has a better understanding of the challenges and the needs of Syria.
