New York, 20 September 2021 (TDI): Maldivian President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has arrived in New York City. The President is here to participate in the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Also, First Lady, Fazna Ahmed and the Maldivian delegation accompanied President on this trip.
President Solih landed at the John F Kennedy Airport. The President was received by the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid. The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations, Thilmeeza Hussain was also present. The 76 session of the UNGA is a momentous occasion in Maldives History, with the Maldivian Foreign Minister serving as the President of the UNGA for the first time.
President Solih will address the 76th session of the UNGA on Tuesday, 21 September 2021. The President will also participate in several bilateral and multilateral discussions with state and government leaders during this trip. Moreover, will return to the Maldives on Tuesday, 28th September 2021.
