Male, 27 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid delivered a video message to mark the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Minister Shahid extended warm greetings to the President of China, Xi Jinping from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of Maldives. Minister Shahid also congratulated Ambassador Wang Lixin on assuming her post as the new Ambassador of China to the Maldives.
The Minister expressed gratitude for the support extended by the Government of China to the Maldives during the most challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister reiterated that the Maldives will continue to work with China in the international arena on issues of mutual interest.
He also stated that he looks forward to working closely with Ambassador Wang Lixin. He was confident that both countries can reach new heights in the Beijing-Male bilateral relationship.
