Maldives and UN Coordinator sign “Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework”

Male, 7 October 2021 (TDI): The Government of Maldives and United Nations Resident Coordinator, Catherine Haswell signed United Nations “Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.”

This framework will provide support to the Maldives to address public challenges and needs in accomplishing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. During the ceremony, the UNSDC Framework was endorsed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, with UN Resident Coordinator, Catherine Haswell. The 76th President of UNGA, Abdulla Shahid was also present.

The government of Maldives has been working together with the UN to form the structure in discussion with a few partners and accomplices. The UN Resident Coordinator offered gratitude to everyone for their dynamic commitment. And for also planning an effective structure for UN support to the Maldives for the following five years. She also expressed trust that the joint responsibility of the UN and Maldivian government will prompt the Maldives to accomplish its SDGs.
