Karachi, 3 October 2022 (TDI): Nine Pakistani athletes ran the London Marathon to donate money to The Citizens Foundation’s (TCF) Flood Relief Appeal. Every year, a significant number of London Marathon runners raise money for a certain charity.

Adnan Gandhi, Kaukab Sarwar, Hira Diwan, Muhammad Affan, Nadir Shera, Shanzé Shah, Fahd Mukhtar, Salman Khan, and Ahmed Mustafa Khan are among the nine runners who have donated to the TCF Flood Relief Appeal.

During the race, all runners were seen wearing TCF t-shirts. Once the flood waters recede, the TCF Flood Relief Appeal hopes to deliver 5 million meals and assist in the repair of 9000 homes for flood-affected people in Pakistan.

TCF is aiding communities in a variety of ways to reduce school dropouts as well. Following the floods, many communities were relocated and lost their source of income, increasing the likelihood of out-of-school children in Pakistan.

By making a donation to the TCF Flood Relief Appeal, others can get involved and aid TCF in its objective to aid communities devastated by floods.

Floods in Pakistan

Pakistan has experienced the worst floods in a decade as a result of the torrential monsoon rains that have lashed the country since mid-June 2022.

More than 33 million people have been affected by floods, and more than 1 million homes have been demolished or damaged, according to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Floodwaters inundating tens of thousands of square kilometers of the nation claimed the lives of at least 1,100 people. The Indus River saw the worst floods in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh.

Balochistan and Sindh have so far experienced rainfall that is five to six times higher than the 30-year normal. Summer monsoon rains brought the majority of that.

3,500 kilometers (2,200 miles) of roads and 150 bridges have been devastated around the nation. Additionally lost were 2 million acres of orchards and crops, as well as more than 700,000 animals.
