Beirut, 28 September 2021 (TDI): The Lebanese Minister of National Defense, Maurice Slim, met with an Italian delegation. The delegation was headed by Chief of Staff, General Enzo Vecciarelli. Nicoletta Bombardiere, Italy’s Ambassador to Lebanon, also participated in the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss bilateral military cooperation between Italy and Lebanon. The Lebanese Minister expressed his gratefulness for Italy’s aid to Lebanon. He also appreciated the efforts of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon’s (UNIFIL) Italian contingent. Whereas the Italian Ambassador communicated a message on behalf of Lorenzo Guerini, the Italian Defense Minister. In the message, he underscored his country’s willingness to help the Lebanese army. The meeting was concluded with a commitment to enhancing bilateral ties between the two ministries, for mutual interest.
Lebanon and Italy are connected by an old relationship that is strengthened because of their ancient civilizations and common Mediterranean heritage.
