Leaders of China and North Korea exchange congratulatory messages

Beijing/Pyongyang, 11 July 2021 (TDI)- President of China and the General Secretary of the country’s leading Communist Party Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with the Supreme Leader of North Korea/DPRK  Kim Jong-un.

The messages were exchanged on Sunday as the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the signing of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance.

The Chinese President stated that the treaty serves as an important political and legal foundation for China and Korea to integrate and strengthen the friendship and promote friendly cooperation. He also expressed his willingness to strengthen the strategic communication with his North-Korean counterpart and to grasp the direction of China-DPRK relations so the bilateral friendly cooperation can be taken to a new stage that benefits both states.

President Xi Jinping has also shared that for the past 60 years, China and DPRK, firmly supported each other striving hand in hand in the spirit of the treaty. Xi Jinping emphasized, China has recently held grand celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and the DPRK people are striving all out in unity to implement the decisions and deployments made at the eighth WPK Congress.

China firmly supports the DPRK in developing its economy, improving its people’s wellbeing, and vigorously advancing its cause of socialist construction. He is confident that the WPK and the DPRK people, under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un, will surely make new and greater achievements.

The Supreme Leader of DPRK responded that facing the complicated and changing international situation, the trust and friendship between the two countries have deepened and bilateral ties reached a new level. He added that his government and party both remain firm on the stance of enhancing and improving friendship and cooperation with China.

Over the past 60 years, China and the DPRK, firmly supporting each other and striving hand in hand in the spirit of the treaty, have strengthened the traditional brotherly friendship between the two parties and between the two countries, advanced the development of respective socialist causes, and safeguarded regional and global peace and stability.
