Riga, 12 October 2021 (TDI): Zanda Kalnina-Lukasevica, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Foreign Minister of Latvia attended the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Development). The objective of the meeting was a discussion on the crisis of Afghanistan.

There was discussion to prevent the predictable collapse of Afghanistan. A possible resolution as per the European approach towards the Afghan crisis is the way forward. The human rights situation has been alarming for the world.
Zanda Kalnina noted the rise in human rights violations in Afghanistan. She demanded a unified EU approach. She urged that humanitarian assistance should reach directly to the vulnerable groups in Afghanistan. Most notably the women and girls. The neighbors of Afghanistan should help.
The European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council is an entity of the EU. It aims to discuss the issues of cooperation, development, and humanitarian assistance for vulnerable places. The high Representatives for the Foreign and Security Policy head these meetings.
