Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of Türkiye in Pakistan hosted a special reception to celebrate Women’s Day, bringing together prominent Pakistani women leaders, diplomats, and members of civil society to celebrate their achievements and role in national development.
The event was hosted by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, and his wife at the Turkish Embassy, and highlighted the importance Türkiye attaches to women’s empowerment while also underscoring the enduring friendship and socio-cultural ties with Pakistan.
A distinguished cross-section of Pakistani female leadership attended the gathering, reflecting the increasing visibility of women in key positions across various sectors.
Among the notable participants were Ambreen Jan – Chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Samina Khalid – Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), and senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Senator Sherry Rehman.

Members of the diplomatic community also joined the reception, demonstrating the international significance of the day and the spirit of cooperation among diplomatic missions in Islamabad.
The Ambassador of Rwanda and the representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were among the foreign dignitaries in attendance.
Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Neziroglu and his wife expressed appreciation for the achievements of Pakistani women and reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s participation in society.
