Kyrgyz Foreign Minister meets EU Special Representative for Central Asia

Bishkek, 10 September 2021 (TDI): Ruslan Kazakbaev, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyz Republic held a meeting with Terhi Hakala, the newly appointed European Union Special Representative for Central Asia.

Both parties talked about reforms in the electoral process. EU Special Representative expressed the readiness of the European Union to support Kyrgyzstan in the implementation of those reforms. Both sides also discussed joint plans which will help elevate relations between Bishkek and European Union. They signed an agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation in areas of mutual interests.

Post pandemic developments were also under consideration. Moreover, security issues and the situation on the border of Kyrgyzstan-Afghanistan were also discussed.
