Phnom Penh, 12 September 2022 (TDI): The King of Cambodia, Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, sent a congratulatory message to UK’s new Monarch, King Charles III.

In the message, Cambodia’s King extended his good wishes to King Charles III on the occasion of his official proclamation as the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

In the message, the King of Cambodia sent best wishes for the UK King’s future well-being as well as for the great prosperity of his country.

Moreover, King Norodom expressed his confidence in strengthening ties between both states under King Charles’ reign. He also highlighted existing excellent bonds of friendship and cooperation between both kingdoms.

Conclusively, the King of Cambodia also extended congratulations from Queen Mother of Cambodia, Norodom Monineath Sihanouk to Queen Consort Camilla.

Death of Former Monarch:

The UK’s former Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II died on 8th September. As the longest-reigning monarch of the United Kingdom, her death brought sorrow for many.

On the occasion, many countries expressed their condolences and stood in solidarity with the people of the UK.

After her death, King Charles III, the eldest child of the former Queen reigned in as the new Monarch of the UK. On the occasion, many royal heads, leaders, and government officials sent felicitation to the New King of the United Kingdom.

UK-Cambodia Relations:

Cambodia and the United Kingdom established diplomatic relations in 1953. Embassies of the UK and Cambodia work in the capitals of each other’s county to further strengthen these ties.

As countries reigned by royalties, the UK and Cambodia share an important bond of linkage with each other.

Additionally, as a South East Asian country, Cambodia is a region that represents a number of opportunities for the UK. Both countries are also committed to strengthening their bilateral cooperation to further boost economic and trade development.

Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni also shared his condolences with King Charles III of the UK at the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. In a letter that he sent to the UK’s new monarch, King Norodom expressed his sincere and deepest sympathies with the people of the UK.

Additionally, he wrote that Queen Elizabeth II would be remembered for her great and constant devotion to her motherland. King Norodom added that the Queen’s great legacy would be remembered by all British subjects and people around the world.
