Astana (TDI): Kazakhstan’s economy grew by an estimated 6.5% in 2025, driven by strong performance in industry, transport, construction, and trade, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistics Bureau.

The Ministry of National Economy highlighted that industrial production rose by 7.4% over the year, with manufacturing showing steady expansion of 6.4%. Key industrial contributors included food production, which increased by 8.1%, oil refining up 5.9%, the chemical sector growing 9.8%, metallurgy up 1.2%, and machine building surging 12.9%.

Transport and warehousing saw robust growth of 20.4%, supported by higher freight volumes on road and rail networks, as well as increased passenger transport across the country. Ancillary services such as freight forwarding, air traffic management, and storage for grain and refrigerated goods also expanded significantly.

Construction activity surged 15.9%, reflecting ongoing infrastructure and social projects, including new schools, medical facilities, and transport and engineering works. Over 20 million square meters of housing were completed in 2025, up 5.1% from the previous year.
