Astana, 4 April 2023 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan proudly announced that the country attracted a record-breaking $28 billion foreign direct investment in 2022. It is a 21.17% increase over the previous year.

It is consistent with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s desire to seek at least $7 billion in foreign investment over the next 150 years.

The Netherlands has made the most significant investment in the country, totaling $8.3 billion, followed by the United States ($5.1 billion) and Switzerland ($2.8 billion).

Belgium, Russia, South Korea, China, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany are among the other countries that have made significant investments in Kazakhstan.

The mining industry has received the highest investment, totaling $12.1 billion, a 25% increase over the previous year. The wholesale and retail trade sectors collected $5.1 billion, while the manufacturing industry attracted $5.6 billion.

Professional, scientific, and technological activities received $1.2 billion, while transportation and warehousing earned $1.2 billion.

Regarding regions, Atyrau has drawn the most investment, totaling $8.3 billion, a 48.3% increase over the previous year. Almaty garnered $7.6 billion, while Astana got $2.2 billion.

In addition to that, substantial capital has been invested in the regions of East Kazakhstan and Aktobe.
