Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs meets the Italian counterparts

Rome, 5 October 2021 (TDI): The Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, met with his Italian counterpart, the  Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio. Ayman Safadi is on a diplomatic visit to Italy where he also attended the sixth annual meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations.

During his visit, the Jordanian Foreign Minister held a strategic dialogue with his Italian counterpart. They had a comprehensive and productive debate on regional issues. The topics varied from the Middle Eastern Peace Process, Libya, Syria, Lebanon to Iraq. In the meeting, the threat of terrorism and preservation of regional peace was also touched upon.

The bilateral relationship between Italy and Jordan is multi-faceted and is culturally enriched as both have a Mediterranean heritage. The diplomatic relations between the two are nuanced and strategic in nature. Jordan is a vital point of reference for Italy, in the region. Over time, the commitment between the two allies has deepened for mutual interests.
