Tokyo, 10 September 2021 (TDI): Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan held a telephone talk with Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs II, Brunei Darussalam on September 8. The two ministers discussed the update regarding Special Envoy Erywan in Myanmar and Covid-19 assistance.
Motegi explained the latest development regarding the Five-Point Consensus of Japan to facilitate its implementation on humanitarian assistance and to support the activities of the Special Envoy. Therefore, Motegi and Erywan will maintain close coordination to turn around the situation in Myanmar.
Secondly, the Government of Japan would provide 50,000 N95 masks to the Brunei Darussalam. As a response to infectious disease, Japan provided and financed its assistance under the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) stockpile project.
Both Ministers acknowledged and expressed gratitude for each other’s efforts.
