Istanbul, 22 July 2022 (TDI): The Speakers and Parliamentarians from Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye participated in the Second Round of the Trilateral Speakers’ Meeting of the three brotherly countries. The meeting took place in Istanbul.

Professor Dr. Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, warmly welcomed the Speakers of Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

He also expressed gratitude for their participation. Furthermore, the Istanbul Declaration was adopted as the outcome of the trilateral meeting.

The Declaration stresses the significance of comprehensive collaboration between the three countries to enhance regional security, stability, and prosperity.

The Istanbul Declaration endorses the stance of the three countries on the issue of Jammu & Kashmir.  Furthermore, the three countries resolved to support a just and peaceful resolution as per the relevant UNSC resolution and the will of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

Lastly, it was also agreed in the Declaration that the third round of the Trilateral
Speakers’ Forum, which is scheduled to be held in 2023, will be hosted by Pakistan.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan also addressed the Forum. He highlighted the importance of finding common grounds to ensure regional security. It is pertinent to note that regional security was one of the key agendas of the trilateral meeting.

While speaking at the forum, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan called for formulating and deliberating a common vision for the respective governments to guarantee regional security and peace.

On the Afghanistan situation, he enunciated that Pakistan was dedicated to reinstating
peace and stability in the war-affected country. A peaceful and stable Afghanistan is pivotal for the security of the region.

Along these lines, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also shared that close collaboration as well as persistent support amongst Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkiye will go a long way in pursuit of the “live and let live” policy.

The aforementioned policy aims to employ all resources for sustained regional peace. In the same vein, the Speaker also underscored the unfavorable consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war. So far, the war has had a negative impact on regional and global peace.

Speaker National Assembly reiterated that the role of NATO in the prevalent Russia-Ukraine conflict indicates the emergence of new security architecture.

Such security architecture in Europe and its surrounding regions can have far-reaching outcomes for the whole global community.

Speaker Türkiye of the Grand National Assembly also addressed the trilateral conference. He stated that the three countries had immense potential.

Hence, the respective parliaments were fated to explore the possible ways for the expansion of cooperation in all dimensions of mutual interest.

Professor Dr. Mustafa Şentop further expressed that the forum of the Trilateral Speakers’ Meeting has the potential to serve to pave the way for further strengthening the current ties between the three fraternal states.
