New York (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, is visiting the United States, where he met several foreign dignitaries. He met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in New York among these dignitaries.
In this meeting, Ishaq Dar assures its commitment to multilateralism and support for international peace and security during its term at the United Nations Security Council (2025-26).

Meanwhile, he had a high-level meeting under the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) forum on the theme, “Practicing Multilateralism: Reforming and Improving Governance.” This particular meeting was scheduled for the 18th of February. This high-level meeting was chaired by the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, as China called the session under its rotating shift of presidency of the Security Council for February 2025.
In this sense, Pakistan assures its commitment to the principles of multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in promoting international peace, security, and sustainable development.
Moreover, he also met with the Pakistani diaspora living in the United States. The foreign minister shared his government’s support for expatriates’ security and the sustainability of their trade and investment projects. He also added that the diaspora played a very important role in the country’s development in every sector of society.
In the end, he met with the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, to promote and sustain the bilateral ties with Pakistan and China. He further underlined that China would keep strengthening its unbreakable connections with Pakistan to protect the two nations’ shared interests.
Both foreign ministers also discussed the steps required to develop and speedy implement phase two of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). They shared the desire to expand cooperation on the CPEC further.
