Islamabad, 16 September 2023 (TDI): Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Dr Reza Amiri Moghaddam called on the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana at FBR Headquarters on 15 September.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Federal Board of Revenue, including the Member (Admin), Member Customs (Operations), and other key personnel.

During the meeting, the two sides engaged in discussions concerning customs-related issues, the enhancement of border management effectiveness, and the facilitation of seamless cross-border trade, particularly through the Mir Javeh-Taftan crossing point, which connects both countries.

Additionally, both officials explored the potential of adding additional gates at the Mir Javeh-Taftan crossing point to facilitate the smooth transit of cross-border trade and to accommodate pilgrims.

The Iranian Ambassador also expressed his point of view that the operationalization of the Rimdan-Gabd crossing point has the potential to significantly boost bilateral trade between the two countries.

Both sides reached a consensus to intensify efforts to promote trade and strengthen communication between the two friendly countries.

The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue assured complete cooperation in addressing customs-related matters, with the aim of further advancing bilateral trade between the two countries.

Furthermore, it was mutually agreed that officials from both countries would convene another meeting by the end of this month to address and resolve all outstanding border-related issues.

Recently, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam also paid a visit to Pakistan’s Minister for Defence, Lieutenant General (retired) Anwar Ali Hyder, at the Ministry of Defense on 14 September.

During their meeting, the minister conveyed his appreciation for the enduring and cordial relationship based on the common religious and cultural connections that exist between the two countries.

He also expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s steadfast support for the rightful struggle of the people of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
