Tehran, 28 July 2022 (TDI): President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, spoke at the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday morning.

In this meeting, the Iranian President assigned the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Energy to follow up on Iran’s water rights in the Hirmand River. He said, “The Popular Administration will not hesitate to pursue the rights of the nation in any way.”

President Raisi also instructed relevant ministries to seriously work in providing drinking and agricultural water to the people of Sistan and Balochistan province. One of the instructions given by President Raisi was to dig deep wells and assign special rigs and for this purpose to implement the necessary measures as soon as possible.

In this meeting with cabinet members, President also referred to his meeting with Friday prayer leaders from across the country. The President announced efficiency as the most important indicator in the appointment of a national, provincial, and local official.

Iranian President also termed the selection of efficient officials as a right of the people. He said, “People are the main owner of system and the Revolution and all officials are responsible to serve them.”

He further said, “We should not under any circumstances fail to fulfill their rights (people).”

Power Outages

Iranian President also thanked the relevant ministers and officials for continuing cooperation in household electricity consumption. He said, “Thank God, with the good cooperation of the people and the effective management of Ministry of Energy, we have had not a problem with power outage this year.”

Statistics Confusion

President Raisi also reflected on the confusion in public opinion caused by some statistics announced by the government agencies. He said, “The Statistics Centre is responsible for providing accurate statistics in the country. Only these statistics should be the basis of policies and decision-making in the country.”

In this meeting, reports were presented on the popular status of basic goods reserves. Reports also presented a plan to increase rainfed production and fishery products.

The beginning of water transfer to Lake Urmia was also an issue discussed at the meeting of the Council of Ministers. Related officials in the government hoped that the restoration of Lake Urmia would gain tangible momentum.
