Islamabad, 14 February 2022 (TDI): Dr. Ahmad Vahidi, the Iranian Interior Minister called on Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, today in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed satisfaction over the upward trajectory in fraternal ties between Iran and Pakistan. He emphasized the extensive potential that exists for enhanced cooperation in multifarious domains.

In addition, the Pakistani Prime Minister specifically underscored the significance of close bilateral partnerships to facilitate trade as well as regional connectivity. Likewise, he emphasized early completion and operationalization of the border sustenance markets.

This initiative will economically uplift the people living on both sides of the border. About the Pakistan-Iran border, Imran Khan stressed that it was a border of peace and friendship. Furthermore, he accentuated the significance of reciprocal partnership to address security issues.

Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked the Iranian Government as well as its Supreme Leader for consistent support for the appropriate resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue. Both sides also deliberated upon the necessity of peaceful and stable Afghanistan highlighting the importance of close coordination between the two countries.

In the same vein, Imran Khan also underscored the necessity for urgent actions by the global community to avert a humanitarian crisis as well as an economic breakdown in Afghanistan.

Both sides also touched upon the need for measures to enhance practical engagement, strengthen stability, and counter-terrorism. Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to the Iranian President to visit Pakistan.

Whilst the Iranian Interior Minister on his part expressed warm greetings from the Iranian leadership to the Pakistani Prime Minister along with reaffirming Iran’s desire to reinforce bilateral ties in all facets.

The Iranian Interior Minister arrived today in Islamabad where he was received by his Pakistani counterpart. The one-day visit of the Minister includes various diplomatic engagements with Pakistani officials.
