Tehran, 13 October 2023 (TDI): Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian engaged in crucial discussions with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati during his visit to Beirut, focusing on the pressing issue of Palestine.
Amirabdollahian emphasized the significance of dialogue with Lebanese counterparts, highlighting that the security and peace of Lebanon are of paramount importance to Iran.
During his trip to Beirut, he aimed to underscore Lebanon’s security, development, and its political process.

Addressing the Palestine situation, Amirabdollahian underscored the organic nature of the recent Palestinian operation, confirmed by the West.
In addition, He described it as a natural response to the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, especially in recent months.
The Iranian foreign minister predicted a transformative impact on Palestine after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, attributing the current crisis to extremism within the Israeli government and Netanyahu’s policies, which had substantial consequences on the ground and influenced the Palestinian decisions.
Amirabdollahian expressed concerns about the ongoing US support for Israel, warning of the potential for the conflict to escalate and create new fronts in the region.

He criticized the discrepancy in the US call for restraint, contrasting it with its ongoing military assistance to Israel and its tacit approval of Israeli actions.
He emphasized the need to contain Israel’s actions, and while praising the strength and capabilities of Palestinian resistance, warned of potential consequences if Israeli aggression continues.
Moreover, Amirabdollahian revealed Iran’s proposal for an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the foreign ministerial level to address the Palestinian crisis, with support from some member countries.
He stressed the importance of convening a high-level meeting of Islamic nations to address the Palestine issue.
Prime Minister Mikati expressed his support for Palestinian rights and highlighted the role of diplomatic efforts in de-escalating the situation.
He called for an immediate cessation of the violence and emphasized the urgency of preventing a regional war.
Thus, the discussions between the Iranian foreign minister and the Lebanese prime minister underscored the shared concern for the tragic situation in Gaza and the necessity of diplomatic solutions to end the violence and secure peace in the region.
