Iran, Turkmen FMs hold telephone talks

Tehran, 20 June 2022 (TDI): Turkmen Foreign Minister, Raşit Meredow and Hossein Amirabdollahian, the foreign minister of Iran, spoke on the phone.

The two foreign ministers discussed the implementation of bilateral agreements. They discussed some regional problems, with  particular focus on the impending Caspian Sea heads of state summit in Ashgabat.

Hossein Amirabdollahian, the foreign minister of Iran, made reference to a recent summit of the leaders of the two nations.

The summit took place in Tehran. He characterized the encounter as a watershed in Tehran and Ashgabat’s bilateral relations.

As a result, the meeting has a significant impact on the development of cordial ties between the two countries, the foreign minister observed.

In this context, Iran’s top Iranian diplomat added that Iran is prepared to pursue and carry out the accords.

Additionally, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian went on to suggest that Ashgabat should host the summit of the Caspian Sea countries, and Iran supports that.

Raşit Meredow, the Turkmen equivalent, also expressed gratitude to Iran for hosting the president of Turkmenistan during his recent visit to Tehran.

He noted the visit as the start of a new chapter in relations between Iran and Turkmenistan.

In addition, foreign minister Meredow stated that ministries, organization leaders, and corporate representatives are ready to meet with their Iranian counterparts.

Therefore, the meeting  will put into action the commitments made at the meeting of the two dignitaries.

The foreign minister of Turkmenistan sent a second invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The president was invited to attend the summit of the Caspian Sea nations. The foreign minister sent the invitation on behalf of the Turkmen president.
