Tehran (TDI): Iran has condemned the latest US military strikes, saying the attacks have effectively made the nearly two-month ceasefire “practically meaningless.”
In a statement released on Thursday, the foreign ministry described the US actions as “illegal and criminal,” arguing that they represent a serious breach of international law and warning that Washington will be held responsible for any severe consequences that follow.
The statement came shortly after the US military confirmed it had carried out another series of strikes on Iranian military targets. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operations were conducted under orders from the commander in chief and were aimed at Iranian surveillance systems, communication networks, and air defense sites.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes were executed using precision-guided munitions deployed by US Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets. The military said the targeted installations were considered a threat to American forces as well as to commercial shipping in regional waters.

CENTCOM further stated that the strikes were carried out in response to what it described as continued Iranian aggression, adding that US forces remain fully prepared, highly capable, and on alert for any further developments. Earlier statements indicated that the latest round of “self-defense strikes” began shortly after midnight local time.
US President Donald Trump said that military action would continue alongside diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran. He stated that Iran had agreed in principle not to pursue nuclear weapons, although a formal deal had not yet been finalized or signed.
Trump also claimed that the United States had been conducting covert operations involving Iranian oil shipments, which he said helped prevent sharp increases in global crude prices.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Iran against escalating the situation further, saying the US actions were defensive and intended to safeguard American personnel. He added that the administration’s priority remains achieving a comprehensive agreement that would permanently prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
