Iran, Pakistan seek to enhance media collaboration
Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam met with Caretaker Minister of Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi

Islamabad, 6 September 2023 (TDI): Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam met with Caretaker Minister of Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad on September 5.

Both the Ambassador and Caretaker Minister have agreed to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in various fields including economic, commercial, cultural, tourism and public relations between the two countries.

Moreover, they discussed issues of mutual interest, fraternal relations between the two countries, promotion of cooperation in the field of media.

Caretaker Minister of Information Murtaza Solangi highlighted that Pakistan highly values its brotherly relations with Iran.

He also addressed that Pakistan and Iran are tied in the bonds of deep religious, cultural and linguistic ties.

Furthermore, he said that Pakistan is keen to promote cooperation with Iran in the film and drama sectors.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador said Iranians hold the great poet of the subcontinent Allama Iqbal in high esteem.

In response to this, the Minister said Pakistan will make a film on Allama Iqbal in collaboration with Iran.

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and the Associated Press of Pakistan had already signed a memorandum of understanding, and several other agreements were in progress to strengthen cooperation among television, film, cinema, literary, and linguistic institutions.

These agreements, he said, would help project the real culture and traditions of the two brotherly countries.

He also emphasized the role of Persian poet Sachal Sarmast, who had great similarities with Allama Iqbal in their Persian works.

Therefore, he regarded the cooperation between Iran and Pakistan as a necessity to promote the literary works of both Allama Iqbal and Sachal Sarmast for other poets.

He added that the academic literature of Pakistan and Khana Farhang Iran could play an important role in that regard.

Furthermore, Murtaza Solangi informed the Ambassador about the steps taken for the upcoming general elections in Pakistan, emphasizing the government’s primary responsibility to ensure peaceful polls.

In the end, he also stressed the expansion of economic relations between Pakistan and Iran.
