Imran Khan and Italian FM held meeting in Islamabad

Islamabad, 7 September 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan received Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio in Islamabad. The officials reviewed bilateral relations between Italy and Pakistan and recent development going on in Afghanistan.

Imran Khan while talking about Afghanistan, stated that the cooperation of the international community is essential in ensuring stability in Afghanistan. And it must remain engaged along with the humanitarian assistance in the country.

Khan emphasized that the international community should also engage in positive engagements, must create grounds for establishing sustainable peace and economic development as well.

During the talks, Imran Khan stated about Pakistan’s interest is in a secure and stable Afghanistan. Other than discussions on Afghanistan, the officials reviewed levels of bilateral cooperation between Italy and Pakistan.

Talking about Italy and Pakistan relations, Imran Khan stressed enhancing collaborations in different areas including trade, investments, defense industry, and people-to-people connections between the two states.

On his part, the Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio highlighted the importance of Italy’s cooperation and assistance to Pakistan and extended his invitation to visit Italy to Imran Khan.
