Islamabad, 6 November 2023 (TDI): In a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian people, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led a high-profile delegation to the Palestine Embassy.

During the visit, Bakhtawari presented a cheque of Rs.2.0 million on behalf of ICCI as a token of support for the people of Gaza who have endured immense suffering due to Israeli bombardment.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, the esteemed President of ICCI, expressed deep concern for the cruelties inflicted upon the innocent Palestinian population by the Israeli forces.

Moreover, he emphasized that the entire business community and the nation of Pakistan stand united with the Palestinian people during these trying times.

In his address, Bakhtawari called upon the Muslim Ummah, international community, and world leaders to join forces in protecting the Palestinians from the brutalities of Israel.

“The genocide of innocent Palestinians is unacceptable,” Bakhtawari declared. He urged world powers to intervene and halt Israel’s brutal actions.

Pakistan, he emphasized, supports the right to self-determination and the establishment of a secure and sovereign Palestinian state as a means to end the ongoing conflict. He reassured that the business community of Pakistan stands ready to provide support to alleviate the suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Ahmed Jawad A.A. Rabaei, the host and Ambassador of the Palestine Embassy, provided a harrowing account of the casualties and destruction inflicted upon the Palestinian people by Israel.

He revealed the shocking statistic that around 10,000 Palestinians, including 80 percent children and women, have tragically lost their lives in Gaza and other areas due to Israeli actions. Furthermore, 11 out of 35 hospitals have been destroyed, and Israeli forces are now menacing Palestinians with eviction from the remaining hospitals, a situation tantamount to a brutal genocide.

Faad Waheed, Senior Vice President ICCI, underscored that Israel’s actions flagrantly violate international humanitarian and human rights laws, constituting war crimes and crimes against humanity. He called upon the global community to step up and put an end to Israel’s continued perpetration of war crimes.

Engr. Azhar ul Islam Zafar, Vice President ICCI, called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the siege of Gaza, and the creation of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the unhindered delivery of relief supplies to the affected Palestinian population.

Zafar Bakhtawari, former President ICCI and Secretary General UBG, identified the root cause of the ongoing conflict as the failure to implement the two-state solution. He implored the United Nations and other stakeholders to ensure the realization of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine as the ultimate resolution to this protracted conflict.

In addition to Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, the ICCI delegation included prominent members of the executive team, including Maqsood Tabish, Hamayun Kabir, Aamir Hussain, Muhammad Rizwan Chheena, Sheikh Muhammad Ejaz, Malik Jalil Ahmed Awan, Dr. Muhammad Usman, Khalid Mehmood, and others.
