Gold Medal in Women’s Javelin for China

Tokyo, 8 August 2021 (TDI): China has won its first-ever gold medal in women’s javelin at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. On Friday, 6, August 2021, Liu Shiying won China’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in women’s javelin.

It was not only the first gold medal of China in the women’s javelin at an Olympics event but also the first one for Asia. 

Chinese gold medal winner won with 66.34m in the opening round of the women’s javelin throw. The silver medal holder from Poland won when her throw reached 64.61m, and the bronze medal winner of Australia won with her throw of 64.56m.

After Liu’s outstanding performance, she thanked her country, team, and parents. She said in an interview that the win means a lot to her because the year 2020 was a difficult period for her; firstly, because of her injury and secondly, due to the global pandemic.

Currently, with 38 golds China is the state with the most gold medals in the 2020 Olympics. China’s total medal count is 87 with 38 gold, 31 silver, and 18 bronze medals.
