The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has departed Taiwan after completing a visit and potentially sabotaging the US-China ties.
As a result, world leaders came forward to express solidarity with China. Pakistan reaffirmed its strong commitment to the ‘One-China’ Policy.
In a statement by the Foreign Office, firm support for China’s sovereignty & territorial integrity was enunciated. Pakistan is deeply concerned over the evolving situation in the Taiwan Strait.

The Ambassador of China to the Republic of Cyprus appreciated the Cypriot Government for its firm stance on the one-China principle in response to US House Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
He went on to state in the tweet that China and Cyprus’ shared commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law lies at the heart of the two countries Strategic Partnership.

Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh, the Iranian Ambassador to China and Mongolia also expressed his country’s stance on the visit by the US Speaker.
He stated that Iran strongly believes in the One-China principle and regards Taiwan as an indivisible part of China. The US has once again meddled in the internal affairs of nations.

The Foreign Ministry of the Philippines also gave an official statement expressing concerns “with the rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait, just north of the Philippines.
The Philippines adheres to the One-China policy. The Philippines urges restraint by all parties concerned. Diplomacy and dialogue must prevail.”
The Foreign Ministry of Belarus also responded on Twitter that Belarus fully shares the concern of the People’s Republic of China, its strategic partner, regarding the “US’ destructive actions aimed at interfering in China’s internal affairs.”

Nicaragua also issued a declaration on Tuesday expressing its solidarity as well as defense of China’s sovereign rights. Daniel Ortega, the Nicaraguan President described Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as an “act of madness, arrogance, and aggression.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba also took to Twitter to express its support for China’s principled position, reaffirming the unrestricted support for the “one China principle.”

The official Twitter handle of the Foreign Ministry of Venezuela also shared in a tweet that the “trip of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan is a direct provocation.
It seriously threatens the self-determination and territorial integrity of the Chinese giant. Venezuela recognizes “One China” and demands respect for its sovereignty.”

Russia also condemned the US actions and stated that the visit of Nancy Pelosi is a “clear provocation in keeping with the US’s aggressive policy of containment of the PRC.”
The Foreign Ministry of Russia further tweeted that “We call on Washington to refrain from actions, undermining regional stability and international security.”

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) also vehemently denounced any external force’s interference in the issue of Taiwan.
It was stated by a DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesperson that the country fully supports the “Chinese government’s just stand to resolutely defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.” This was reported by the Korean Central News Agency.
The UN Secretary-General Guterres also stated about the evolving tensions that “Our position is very clear. We abide by General Assembly resolutions, by the One China policy, and that is the orientation that we have in everything we do.”

While the G7 Foreign Ministers of France, Canada, the United States of America, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, Italy, and the High Representative of the European Union gave a statement on “Preserving Peace and Stability Across the Taiwan Strait.”
They reaffirmed their “shared commitment to maintaining the rules-based international order, peace, and stability across the Taiwan Strait and beyond.”
Furthermore, they expressed their concern “by recent and announced threatening actions by the People’s Republic of China (PRC), particularly live-fire exercises and economic coercion, which risk unnecessary escalation.”
In response, the Mission of China to the EU gave a strong statement. The Mission tweeted that the statement is “probably the strongest statement from our Mission in history: our spokesperson’s response to the G7 Foreign Ministers’ statement on Taiwan.”

China announced live-fire military exercises across six zones in waters surrounding the island of Taiwan in response to Pelosi’s visit. In addition, the PLA drones flew over Kinmen for the first time, today.
Moreover, China’s Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government expressed firm opposition to the visit of Nancy Pelosi, to China’s Taiwan region, strongly condemning it.
John Lee, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR also strongly condemned Pelosi’s visit. He expressed that the visit challenges the one-China principle, undermining China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
