General Bajwa emphasizes peace and stability in Afghanistan

Rawalpindi, 10 September 2021 (TDI): The Chief of Army Staff Pakistan (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, expressed his views on ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan as he chaired the Corps Commanders Conference (CCC) at GHQ. The conference marked a comprehensive review of global, regional, and domestic security dynamics. The participants were briefed on the evolving situation in Afghanistan and the security measures in place for various threats, especially along the Pak-Afghan border.

ISPR, the military’s media wing, said that the COAS stressed the efficacy of adequate border management. He stated that because of these measures Pakistan’s security remained intact amidst of crisis in the region. He also hailed Pakistan Army’s role in this regard, especially its diligence in conducting evacuation operations. He urged the international community for constructive engagement and humanitarian assistance. He underscored that the close collaboration among regional stakeholders is imperative for lasting peace and prosperity not only in Afghanistan but also in the entire region.

The COAS acknowledged and appreciated the efforts and sacrifices of late Syed Ali Shah Geelani in his struggle for freedom in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. The COAS highlighted that Pakistan is fully prepared to counter conventional as well as non-conventional security threats.
