French minister to join G20 trade meeting
French minister, Olivier Becht, will represent France in G20 meeting in India this year.

Paris, 22 August 2023 (TDI): Olivier Becht, the French Minister delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness, and French Nationals Abroad, operating under the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is set to participate in the G20 Trade and Investment Ministerial Meeting taking place in Jaipur, India, spanning from August 23 to 25.

The event brings together international leaders to deliberate on pressing matters including the digital transformation of global trade, strategies to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the global market, and reforms to enhance the operations of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Collaborating with counterparts from India, Australia, and Japan, Minister Delegate Becht will articulate France’s resolute stance advocating for an Indo-Pacific region that is characterized by its inclusivity, openness, and freedom.

Moreover, he will build his talks with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry upon the momentum generated by the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister to France.

In discussions with Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, the emphasis will be on augmenting the economic connections between France and India and bolstering the resilience of supply chains.

Furthermore, Olivier Becht’s discussions with Cecilia Todesca Bocco, Argentina’s Secretary for International Economic Relations, will focus on pivotal concerns relevant to the bilateral economic dynamics and the progress of trade deliberations with Mercosur nations.

The G20 Trade and Investment Ministerial Meeting provides a platform for dynamic dialogues, ensuring that the global community collaborates effectively to navigate the evolving complexities of international trade, technological advancements, and economic interdependence.
