Argentina’s Franco Vitali Wins Phygital Dancing Title at Games of the Future

Astana (TDI): Argentina’s Franco Vitali has won the Phygital Dancing title at the Games of the Future 2026 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Vitali defeated France’s Lina 2-1 in the final, winning the opening and deciding rounds to claim the gold medal. Sergio Mayta secured third place after beating Ivan Vlasov 2-0 in the bronze-medal match.

Speaking after the final, Vitali said he was still struggling to believe he had become champion after a demanding tournament. The Argentine said he had been dancing since the age of nine and competing in tournaments since 2016, adding that he had previously reached the top eight and finals on several occasions.

“I still can’t believe I’m the champion. I’ve been playing since I was nine years old and competing in tournaments since 2016. I’ve reached the top eight and the finals many times. The time has finally come. It’s a dream come true,” Vitali said.

He also praised the organization of the Games and described his visit to Kazakhstan as an unforgettable experience, noting that it was his first trip outside Argentina. Vitali said the event also gave him an opportunity to meet people he had known for years and interact with new participants in person.

Meanwhile, silver medallist Lina said reaching the final had exceeded her expectations, as she considered herself primarily a dancer rather than a competitive scorer. The French athlete revealed that she had never previously competed using a controller and began training for the event only a month ago.

“I’m really surprised to finish in the top two because I’m not a scorer,” Lina said, adding that she was nevertheless happy with her performance and Vitali’s victory. She also praised the atmosphere of the competition and the hospitality of the people in Kazakhstan, saying she hoped to return for future events.
