Former Algerian President appointed as High Representative for Africa

Nigeria, 26 August 2021 (TDI): The Chairperson of the African Union H. E Moussa Faki Mahamat has appointed a new High Representative for the Horn of Africa region. The new representative is a former President of Algeria H.E Olusegun Obasanjo.

The purpose behind this appointment is to promote peace and security in the Horn of African region, an important goal for the African Union (AU). Moreover, AU wants to engage the political actors and stakeholders of the region through the High Representative for durable peace and stability.

The Former President has great political experiences for the region`s collective interest. H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat hopes the Representative will work to bring regional integration for AU.
