Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood attends meeting on Afghanistan

Islamabad, 9 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi attended the virtual meeting of foreign ministers about Afghanistan. The meeting was hosted by US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas which was attended by more than twenty countries. The ministers present were unanimous in their stance towards the Taliban. They all agreed that the Taliban must fulfill their international commitments on ensuring political participation of all groups, secure passage, human rights, and curbing terrorism from Afghanistan.

Shah Mahmood during the meeting stressed on the proactive engagement of regional and international countries in the stability and prosperity of Afghanistan. He further stated that continued engagement of the international community would also prove beneficial for combating terrorism.

He reiterated that peace in Afghanistan is vital for Pakistan as the closest neighbor of Afghanistan it had suffered immensely for forty years.
