Abu Dhabi, 1 July 2022 (TDI): The foreign minister of the UAE, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has received the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, to discuss strengthening ties.
The two leaders met to talk about the strategic ties between the UAE and Cyprus. They also talked about how to further the two friendly nations’ cooperation in a variety of areas.
The two top officials also discussed certain regional and global topics of mutual interest over dinner in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Abdullah, the UAE’s foreign minister, welcomed Minister Kasoulides’ arrival. He emphasized the closeness of ties between the UAE and Cyprus.
He also underlined their desire to promote collaboration in light of the strategic alliance that unites the two friendly nations.
In response, Kasoulides, the foreign minister of Cyprus, reaffirmed his nation’s pride in its strategic ties with the UAE. He also reaffirmed the desire of the nation to push them further, resulting in a brighter future.
UAE-Cyprus bilateral discussions
In light of this, the two nations have been working to advance their bilateral ties in recent years. This was on the basis of respect for one another and mutual cooperation in a range of areas.
Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates have established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to elevate their current bilateral relations in defence, shipping, trade, and energy.
Additionally, the number of agreements signed has increased, and there have been more official high-level visits between the two nations, whether at the parliamentary, ministerial, or presidential levels.
The agreements included a joint declaration to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE Government and the Cyprus Government.
Moreover, the two nation also signed momerandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of diplomatic training between Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy of the UAE and the Diplomatic Academy of the Republic of Cyprus
