Islamabad, 12 August 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Togo, Robert Dussey, called on Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at Parliament House on Thursday.
Chairman Senate identified shared interests and respect as the driving forces behind Pakistan and Togo’s relationship during his meeting with Foreign Minister Dussey.
The two emphasized the necessity of advancing bilateral collaboration in numerous areas of shared interest.

Sadiq Sanjrani appreciated the Togolese Foreign Minister for participating in the OIC-CFM conference held in Islamabad in March 2022. He also highlighted the significance of bilateral relations based on shared values, aspirations, and respect.
The Chairman stressed how crucial it is for Pakistan to continue developing cordial ties with Togo. He commended Togo for its good and significant contributions to global institutions, including the AU, OIC, UN, and ECOWAS. He also praised the customary alignment of viewpoints and mutual support for one another’s candidacies at an international forum.
The meeting was intended for bilateral political, commercial, and military exchanges. The Chairman also invited the commander of the Togolese military to come to Pakistan. He noted that they need to further increase the $27 million bilateral trade.

Verbal Agreements discussed
Sanjrani advised concluding and signing an MoU for Bilateral Political Consultations that has been in the works since March 2021. Additionally, the Chairman also proposed the creation of a Joint Business Council.
He further mentioned new efforts to develop bilateral cooperation. They included Agreements for Visa Abolition for Diplomatic & Official/Service Passports. They also agreed upon MoUs for Cooperation in Counter Terrorism, Health & Agriculture Sectors, and Defense Cooperation.
The Togolese Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace. Dussey said that Togo is a significant country in the region, and it wished to establish connections with Pakistan.
The visiting dignitary received an overview of the Upper House and legislative processes from the Chairman Senate. They also decided to promote institutional collaboration.
The two sides acquiesced during the meeting to maintain contact and explore mechanisms for frequent engagement between Pakistan and Togo.
